Won't Sibson damage the environment?
The ideas for Sibson are that it will sit sustainably within its local environment. We would work with the local Wildlife Trusts and Local Nature Partnership to build strong ecological corridors to enhance biodiversity both within the village and also in the wider countryside. We would create new habitats such as native broadleaved woodland, orchards, avenues of trees, meadows and ponds. Overall we would aim to generate significant gains in biodiversity.
New houses would have high energy efficiency standards. We would also look at sources of renewable energy. The location of the village is only 8km away from Wittering where Lark Energy, part of the Larkfleet Group, has planning consent for a large solar power plant that has the capacity to power up to 2500 homes. We would want to explore the possibility for delivering cables from this plant to the new village.
